Sailing Activity: Trip to Paradise Cove

This afternoon’s sailing activity will be sailing to Malibu: “44 Miles to Paradise Cove” I call it. Here’s a live example trip and also some tips on earning online from wherever your travels take you!

A bay similar to Paradise Cove

One afternoon I set out in my 22′ Columbia sailboat for Malibu.

.

I was guessing that it might take me a few hours to get there from Marina Del Rey but I hadn’t done the math. It was surprising when I realized it would take me till 11 o’clock at night to reach that dark bay. My course would be heading NW up the California coast for 44 miles.
.
At first the wind was coming out of the NW, so I had to tack to the North towards Santa Monica. Later, after passing the Santa Monica pier, the winds picked up and came from the West. This put me on a comfortable beam reach and the sailboat flew along over the water very quickly. It was exhilarating to feel the cool wind blowing through the sails and over my face and neck. To also see the 30-foot sails pulling the boat along with such power, was inspiring.
.
I stood there holding the tiller in my hands and just watching the ocean as we glided over its surface. The waves were only two or three feet high and we cut through them with ease.
.
The Malibu coast was only a couple of miles off. I could see some of the lights from the houses on shore blinking back at me in the evening light. Sometimes I could even see the stoplights on the road too (the road that winds its way across the oceanfront).

Sailing Activity: Getting to Paradise Cove successfully.

.
As you can probably guess, sailing 11 hours to Paradise Cove was not easy. I did, however, have some great moments along the way. In fact there were some very hard parts of the journey.
.
For instance, when it got dark I kept wondering to myself how far away it was. I wondered how long before I got there. I also wondered how would I know for sure that I had even arrived. I’d never been there by sea before and on top of that, it was getting dark. So my only hope of reaching it was by understanding the map.
.
Understanding how fast I was going and how many miles it was to get there was part of the equation. If I was, for example, going four knots an hour (about 4 1/2 miles per hour) and Paradise Cove was 44 miles, then I would simply divide 44 by 4 and I could see it would take me 11 hours to arrive. Also, I was looking at what Paradise Cove looked like on the map. This was so I would recognize the shoreline when I saw it in real life.

So I’m sure you’re wondering what this has to do with making money online in order to travel the world.

.
Well, let me explain!
.
One of the things that you have to do in order to create a sale online is the act of creating trust. Creating trust between you and those who take the time to read your emails. Many people think that if they just create a generic blog post pre-written by someone else, this will do the trick (big “X” “WRONG” on that one lol!).
.
But they fail to realize that unless someone actually gets to know you a little bit, they probably won’t want to join anything you’re talking about. Sure there’s always the rare occasion of an excellent sales post. One that draws you in and makes you curious enough to buy.  But personally, I like to know that the person I’m going to buy from a little. I like to know that they will actually be there for me when difficulty arises!
.
That’s why I wanted to share a little of my story with you so you! I want you to feel a little bit of who I am and understand where I’m coming from.
.
This is also very similar to working online. You have to have a system for getting to where you need to go and guidance.
.
So to sum everything up, I hope you enjoyed the sailing story.
